About: The River Erme is backed by low shrub covered cliffs and it is possible to cross the river within one hour of the low tide. Swimming is only safe on the incoming tide.

About: The gabions that act as a sea defence are not the prettiest thing on the beach but the rope entwined around the wooden planks looks very sea weathered and worthy of a photograph.

Slipway to the Beach

About: We parked in the car park at the top of the hill and walked to the beach via the woods and the estate. If the tide had been out it would have been possible to walk along the sand to the Mothecombe beach from this point.

About: After we walked to the beach at the mouth of the estuary we came back and spotted the path in the opposite direction. A pretty river scene greeted us but the threatening clouds were a bit of a worry

Lifebuoy on the Sand

About: This lifebuoy is at the entrance to the beach on the sand dune and as the area is quite away from any habitation it is probably a good idea.
