About: Greenway house was the birthplace of Sir Humphrey Gilbert who was the explorer who claimed Newfoundland for Queen Elizabeth in 1583. Today the house seems to be remembered more as the home of the novelist Agatha Christie and after extensive renovation is now open to the public
