Deserted Quay
Place: Fremington Quay Category: Ports and Harbours Size: Wallpaper Size About: Fremington Quay is a very peaceful place with a good cafe but decades ago it was a different story. The Quay was Linked by the London and South Western Railway on the tracks which had been laid down in 1846. In the early twentieth century it was the busiest port between Bristol and Lands End with ships bringing in coal which was loaded by cranes onto the waiting railway trucks. Exports from the quay included the local clay and ceramics and other local produce. Photograph Added: 12th June 2010 |
