About: Between 1913 and the 1960's Mount Batten was the base for seaplanes and flying boats. Originally called Royal Naval Air Service Cattewater the name was changed to RAF Mount Batten. Lawrence of Arabia was stationed at Mount Batten between the wars when he was Aircraftsman Shaw.
